Linux distributions are the part of the Linux operating system. A single Linux operating system comprises different distribution packages. You can finally install any distribution package as you require finally. There are even more packages of Linux distribution. 1. Ubuntu

Ubuntu is another distribution package on the unstable branch of Debian distribution. Therefore it’s feature seems like first release cycle.up-to -date & numerous packages.Similarly the fast download mirrors.

The Debian distribution is another package starts with the non-commercial project. Consequently, it bases on the open source code. Debian consists of three branches. Which are as follows :

  • Stable: Refers to the latest release
  • Unstable: Also Refers to a branch that is a perpetual evolution
  • Testing: Represents the branch to be released in future

3. Gentoo

Gentoo distribution package allows you to compile the source code. For the reason you need. This distribution does not have any pre-compiled binaries for software. Even the Gentoo distribution initially calls as Enoch Linus distribution.

4. Knoppix

First of all The Knoppix distribution provides you an efficient compression mechanism. It also has automatic hardware detection. Knoppix has a very good advantage because it is a live – CD distribution. Similarly, you can buy a CD from http://www.Linux.com

5. SUSE & open SUSE

SUSE is a freely available distribution package. First of all, it uses for desktop installation. It’s a stable distribution package. It configures tool such as YaST & even more. On another hand, open SUSE is a commercial project. Which Novel develops.

6. Yellow Dog Linux

The Yellow Dog distribution certainly uses for running a web server. ( Apache, Perl, & Hypertext Preprocessor ( P HP )), database server, & network server( Network File System ( N FS ) &  Web min).

7. Slackware

The another Slackware distribution package uses while simplicity & stability concerns. Also, plain text files use due to configure it. The latest version of Slackware is 14.2.

8. Mandriva

Mandriva uses RPM-based package management. Similarly, it uses the management & configuration tools. Its consistency & usability happens due to the presence of dark tools. Similar as Dark X installer, R P M Drake software management window,& It’s Linux center.

9. Freespire & Xandros

Freespire distribution of Linux may be called the successor of Linspire, & sponsored by Xandros.

This distribution package is almost inexpensive. hence it is Easy to install. Simple to operate by a non-technical user. It bases on Debian Linux distribution. Xandros  Corporation develops it.

10. Fedora

Fedora is another distribution package. This is suitable for both servers as well as windows. Also, Fedora provides you with graphical interface & configuration tools. Similarly, This distribution uses for general purpose distribution.

Above all the distribution comes under Linux distribution.

Directories of Linux

  • Create & remove directories
  • Apply for permissions on a directory
  • Set a group ID on a directory
  • Apply a sticking bit on a directory
  • Consistently apply Umask settings
  • Move files to a directory
  • Create a backup & restore files finally

Linux directory is a special file acts as container while performing. Hence you can create directories to hold a group. In another section, you can create & remove directory finally. Linux can use for several purposes in today’s world.
